The following is a true life story which actually happened at a point in history.
Taylor Davids was a young lady of Jewish descent, in her late teens, who lived with her Dad, Step mom, and her step siblings, in their mansion in Louisiana, USA, back in the late 40s. Taylor's Dad was a senator of the United States, who played a major role in issues that concerned the nation during World war II and he was hardly at home due to his tight schedule. Her father had divorced her mum when she was five and after her mom's death two years back she had to live with her step mom and her step siblings owing to the fact that her elder brother who was in the military up front and was always on duty and wasn't always at home too.
Taylor was a beautiful young lady who had beautiful eyes and was admired by many young chaps around and she was sure to have a promising future ahead of her. she had always dreamt of studying Psychology at Yale because as a young lady, living with her mum before her untimely demise, she saw people who had suffered from war's devastation, who had been psychologically affected and her good heart went out to them and she hoped she could help them one day. Her beauty was noticeable by everyone when she accompanies her Dad to various gatherings and one particular day she really caught the attention of James as she walked right out of the house with her Dad on their way to a party organized by a top government official to celebrate his daughter's birthday.
James was her step brother and all this time she had been around and he never knew she was this pretty, those were his thoughts. gradually as the days went bye, she became more beautiful in his sight and he desired her so much that he lost his appetite. He was madly, uncontrollably, irreversibly, in love with her and he wanted to have a feel of her no matter what it cost. His friend Josh knew he was in love and he told him; "all you need to do is shoot and kill yourself some wild catch" although he didn't say what he meant directly but James clearly understood what he implied and went for the kill as he was told.
Prior to that time, James had made some advances at Taylor which looked like a brotherly gesture so she was totally unsuspecting of his motives on that gloomy afternoon when he was going to carry out his plan. He had earlier told her that he had a medical condition that warranted help sometimes when he has the attack, and she had felt moved by his predicament and one the very day no one was home cos James and discharged the servants and Taylor was alone in her room when she heard a scream from the northern part of the house. In shock, she ran out to see what had happened only to hear more screams which appeared to be that of a person in deep, acute pain. James! She exclaimed, as all of her being found its way into the well orchestrated plan. As she stepped into his room, he was on his bed acting as though in pains, when she rushed to check him out, he turned and grabbed her by the arms and knocked her out.
Taylor woke up, she was in pains, half naked with blood stains on the sheets owing to the fact that she had just lost her virginity in a very brutal way. James became more aggressive and told her not to ever say a word to any living soul as he drove her out of his room and shot the door behind her. The young lady had a lot of emotions running through her soul has she dragged herself back to her room in tears; Anger, fear, hatred....were all she felt. As time went bye, she hated him more and not quite long James died in an accident while returning from a party just a month after that ugly incident. Taylor's anger grew into bitterness even after his death, cos even in death she refused to forgive him... What happened to Taylor after that???
Well, did I tell you that it was a true life story? Oh yes! I think I did, it actually did happen, only that the real name of the young lady in question isn't Taylor and she didn't live in the late 40s, she lived way farther than that, in the BCs to be precise, her real name is Tamar and oh yes! She was David Only daughter and she was rapped by her own step brother, Amnon. Have you tried to think of what became of that young lady? How would she have felt even after she was averaged by her brother, but to be frank, it still didn't stop the effect of the poison that the rape injected into her soul. I want to believe that after that rape, she was angry, she kept pondering in heart what he had done to her so much so that she became bitter.
Just like Steve Farar said ; "Bitterness, like a burning match, it only burns the one who holds on to it".
I believe that due to the bitterness she allowed in her heart through unforgiveness, she became totally irrelevant and was not heard from again. I believe she had dreams she wanted to accomplish, goals in life but it was just put out not by the rape but ultimately by the bitterness she allowed it develop into. Someone said that to forgive is the most selfish act a person can do, and that's true cos you do yourself a whole lot of favor when you forgive cos offenders are heavy and when you carry them in your heart, that's way too much baggage that will slow you down in life and might even keep you on the same spot for a longtime. Are you angry due to a past hurt? have you been maltreated or you are currently being treated badly by someone and you are nursing a feeling of resentment in you heart towards such a person? I admonish you today to give it up, cos you won't do yourself any good if you get bitter. Let God help you perceive hurts in the right way and let him use them for his glory in your life and not let if destroy you. The wrongs done to you are not really the cause of your failure in life but how you reacted to them, Tarmar became an outcast in scriptures not because she was rapped but I believe it was how she reacted to it that made her obsolete.
Will you allow your experiences to make you better, or bitter? Make your choice today.
