Anger
isn’t a phenomenon new to humanity or the whole of existence. Animals get angry;
humans get angry, even Spirits get angry including the apex of all, God. It’s
a biblical fact that God can be vexed so there is no debate about that. I won’t
bore you with some spooky definition of anger because I am pretty sure you all know
what it feels like to be angry. I am sure that most of you, readers, would have
gotten angry in the last 24hours, or at most 72hours. There are enough reasons
around us to be angry. So the question isn’t “what is anger?” but more like; “what
is the right use of anger?”
‘Anger’
is the right of every human being irrespective of age, ethnicity, religious
affiliation, or socio-cultural background. you can and you should be angry from
time to time, in fact in certain circumstances, you should never stop being
angry. But mind you, just like anger is a good tool that can be used by humans
for good causes, it can also be a destructive tool if wrongly wield. For
instance, it is the second amendment right of an American to own a gun. Guns
are quite handy in certain situations but can also be destructive given some instances;
at least if you have been following the homicide history of the US, the use of
guns has been a major issue. Most politicians in the country have argued in
different capacities and based on the constitution, the question of withdrawing
the right of folks to own guns is totally off the table but guns ownership has
been subjected to certain background checks. Before you exercise your right to
own a gun, they have to be sure whether or not you qualify to own one and it
ensures the right use of it.
I
believe in the use the natural gun of anger as the civil right of every
individual but subject to the background checks of motives and the right use of
it. I once heard a story of a young TV host who was a beauty to behold, the
dream of every man who dared to dream of a supermodel wife. She got married to
this young man, and they were having an awesome marriage just like every normal
couple, not until one night, something transpired between the duo and she
flared up. Her emotions exploded like a super active volcano and larva ashes of
reactions ensured. She got so wild that she broke the LCD TV, and any valuable
thing in the sitting room she could lay her hands on. Well, the husband thanked
God that he made it out alive, probably with some bruises, but the bottom line
was that; his supermodel wife was a monster within, at least that was what he
felt, which might not be far from the truth depending on the angle you are
viewing it from.
In
the above story, it’s obvious that the lady in question had an anger issue
which is no doubt a weakness but she could have channelled it in the right
direction and make strength out of it. how? Remember the background check?
Follow me carefully.
Anger is a very
powerful emotion and a tool which is in fact very useful in human existence.
The problem with anger as it pertains to human interactions is that; it
shouldn’t be used on human but rather on non human entities. The bible made it
care that you can be angry but sin not i.e. own the gun, it’s your right but
not without the background checks. Anger channelled towards human entities is
the reason for most devastating occurrences in both modern and prehistoric
times. We should be angry, but that anger should be channelled at situations
that need change, the devil that uses human agents to cause devastations not
the people he uses. If you attack the vessel, it doesn’t affect the content. We
should refuse to let situations hold us back but rather fight the corruption in
our land not the Politicians, fight the immoralities committed in our culture
not the perpetuators, fight the injustices not the people who commit them
because the major reasons of endless wars is not that we don’t have the right
tools but it’s because we have being fighting the wrong Battles. Thanks.
Tell us more on how to use anger to fightfight?
